"Don't Let Me Go" by Catherine Ryan Hyde review

Another "hit" in me book, which I read in one gulp and in one breath. Once again I come across the fact that I do not know how and I do not like to write structured reviews. It's just that this book has everything I love - a company at first completely alien to each other adult people, with their problems and their pain, which are tightly made friends in the process of plot development. There is a bold and determined child - a ten-year-old Grace - who has not yet learned how to lie, like adults, not yet hidden in her shell, still calling things by their proper names - and yes, it is she who helps adults to get closer. They unite to take care of Grace because of her mother - once again broke down drug addict. And it turns out that Grace helps them no less, and it all starts with her perplexed question: "Each of you is alone here - why are you still alone ?!" A reasonable question, right? Yeah, me - the reader - Grace also had something to teach, it seems. Talented girl. People look around and realize that they lived together for many years in the same entrance, and did not see that their neighbors needed their help. And yet - did not recognize that they themselves may need to seek help (the ability to ask - this is also such an important skill). Are you familiar with your neighbors on the porch? I just asked you that. I now understand that I have lived in this house for 30 years, and now I do not know anyone here, for example ... And here's another thing. The book is not tearing. Not pressing on pity. And for me, the favorite hero of the book was really Billy (although do not believe the annotations - the book is not just about him!). And I know his way very much. And so the final scene gives hope (although, of course, I would not give up a larger portion of hope - well, for a favorite hero you always want the best, you understand). In the book, there are bitter and disturbing scenes, but overall it is still bright and filled with a love of life and hope. And love - the most different, the most unexpected, necessary as air. I recommend reading the book first of all of those who are sad, tired, from whom the ray of hope for changing the situation eludes. Well, everyone who just loves good books.)
